Thread rolling is an inexpensive way to produce accurate, smooth, and strong threads. During thread rolling, material is displaced rather than removed. Rolled thread flanks are very smooth due to the burnishing action which takes place during rolling. Most threads and forms can be rolled in long rods or on parts. We have rolled straight and diamond knurls, unified, metric, Acme, stub Acme, worm, ball, modified buttress, and special threads, with single and multiple starts, and with right and left hand threads. Materials rolled include most carbon, alloy, and stainless steels, brass, and titanium. We custom roll to your thread designation, in material you select, next to a shoulder, or on bars up to 30 feet long. We have rolled pitches as fine as 0.005" (200 TPI), and leads up to 3 inches. Down time due to die deterioration is minimal since we can regrind our own dies. We are equipped to perform most machining operations in house, but if you prefer, we can provide thread rolled rods or roll threads on your blanks. Most of the lead screws we produce are made from rolled rods, and some are produced by thread grinding. We would appreciate an opportunity to work with you to improve part quality and lower your costs by thread rolling.
